Is the Fenerbahce jersey inspired by a basketball jersey?
The new Turkish Cup champions paid tribute to the club's basketball team

Michy Batshuayi's brace gave Fenerbahce victory in their seventh Turkish Cup. The talented class of 2005 Arda Güler was awarded MVP of the match and together with his teammates wore the new kit that the Istanbul team will wear in the 2023/2024 season. The new jersey is not very different from the traditional Fenerbahce kit, with the exception of the choice to keep the two sleeves completely white, with an effect very similar to basketball shirts. Fenerbahce is, in fact, a multi-sport club that runs nine disciplines, one of the most glorious being the male basketball team, ten times winner of the Turkish championship, seven times winner of the Turkish Cup and one Euroleague, in 2016/2017.
In the centenary year of the club's birth, it is more than plausible that the football jersey pays homage to another great team bearing the club's colours, with an unusual football-basketball link, probably only seen in this way in PSG's Jordan collection, with the shorts clearly quoting those of the Chicago Bulls.
In the new PUMA jersey, the white sleeves stand out clearly from the yellow and blue vertical stripes, creating a strong singlet effect. Unlike the basketball team, the lower part of the uniform, with the shorts and socks, is white. On the back, a detail celebrating the club's history are the jersey numbers, inside of which are the faces of fans and personalities important to the history of the yellow Canaries.
