Genoa's third kit for the club's 130th anniversary
Kappa presented the shirt at an event in the Porto Antico of Genoa
September 8th, 2023
Genoa is the oldest club in Italy, founded as a Cricket and Football club on 7 September 1893. This year it celebrates its 130th anniversary and does so by presenting the new third kit for the 2023/24 season, the one of its return to Serie A. The jersey was unveiled during an event staged in one of Genoa's iconic landmarks, the Porto Antico, where Kappa showed a gold jersey with a tone-on-tone pattern paying homage to the griffon. The Genoa symbol is also chosen as the crest for the jersey, accompanied by the two dates "1893 - 2023" celebrating the historic milestone.
The red and blue colours are also present on the collar, completed with a button. Also on the collar is the inscription "From the beginning, forever 130", while on the shoulders the Kappa Omini could not be missing, as the last detail of a minimalist kit in design but enriched by details that are part of that trend of celebratory jerseys with a retro taste. Due to the break for national team matches, we won't see the new Genoa and Kappa kit on the pitch next weekend, but it could make its debut in the friendly against Brescia on 8th September or in the Marassi match against Napoli on 16th September.
