Borussia Dortmund unveils the Away jersey for the 2024/25 season
Under the motto "Borussia unites"
August 30th, 2024
On the eve of the second league match against Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund and PUMA unveil the new away jersey for the 2024/25 season. The undisputed highlight of the jersey is the claim "Borussia unites" ("Borussia verbindet" in German), which is featured in various forms. In fact, the motto is repeated in the jersey’s pattern in sign language and is also integrated in Braille. On the backneck, you can read "United by Borussia" on the first line, followed by "Borussia unites" on the second. The jersey represents the club’s diversity and its ongoing commitment against racism, anti-Semitism, hostility towards the LGBTQ+ community, sexism, and discrimination, aiming to promote the values of a truly unique society in the European landscape. Through a statement on its social channels and website, the club thanked those who participated in and supported the project.
BVB founder Franz Jacobi, who passed away in 1979, used to say: «The quality of a football club is demonstrated by the way it tackles social tasks.» In recent history, Borussia Dortmund has managed to uphold its values—despite recent opposition from fans regarding the club's decision to partner with Rheinmetall, a company that sells weapons of war to countries like Russia and Qatar.
The material used to create the jerseys is also special. Thanks to PUMA’s innovative RE technology, excess polyester is transformed into a new fabric: from this season onward, all PUMA jerseys will be produced using this technique. The new Away jersey will be worn by both the Borussia Dortmund men’s and women’s teams.
