Barcelona returns to black with the new Away kit
The last among the top clubs in Europe
September 4th, 2024
For the fourth time in its history, after the 2011/12, 2013/14 and 2020/21 seasons, Barcelona will wear a black jersey. This is the new away version, once again designed by Nike, released with a slight delay compared to other top European clubs and featuring blue and red colors, with the latter also present in the Spotify logo. It was in 2011 when Barça first wore a black kit, although as a third jersey, which became very popular among the Culer fans. That season, Pep Guardiola's team won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup, which is why the new jersey could be a good omen for the first season of the new coach Hansi Flick, who has started strongly with 4 wins in the first 4 games.
Two years later, the team wore a black jersey again as a third kit, with a design featuring yellow details, differentiating it from the first version. Finally, in the 2020/21 season, Barça once again had a black jersey with gold details. The release of the new Away jersey puts to rest the leaks spread over the last few months by major football websites, which claimed that this version would be the third kit for the Blaugrana and therefore would feature the inverted Swoosh, present on all Nike Third kits released in recent weeks. To date, Barcelona remains the only top club - along with Paris Saint-Germain - that has yet to unveil its third jersey, which will most likely be available in the coming weeks.
