The most special kits of Serie C 2024/25
Have you seen S.P.A.L.'s collaboration with SlamJam and Latina Calcio's rebranding?
September 11th, 2024
The Serie C is the most unique Italian league: a complex format sees 60 teams competing, with only 4 spots available for promotion to Serie B. In the 2024/25 season, Serie C will be even more interesting to follow, thanks to the creativity brought by some of the participating clubs. With rebranding, collaborations, new sponsors announced, and plenty of new kits, there will be much to enjoy. Serie C - now "Serie C Now" - features a total of 60 teams, divided into three groups of 20 teams each, with the composition based exclusively on geographic criteria.
The regulations of Serie C
The Lega Pro determines the composition of the groups at the start of each season. At the end of the season, the winners of the three groups are promoted to Serie B, along with the team that wins the playoffs. The playoffs include the teams ranked second to tenth in each group, along with the winner of the Serie C Coppa Italia. Lastly, without going into further details, a total of 9 teams are relegated to Serie D: the last-placed teams in each group drop directly to the lower division, while teams finishing between fifth-last and second-last place compete in the playouts to determine the relegation of two additional teams from each group. Considering that players will be engaged for an extended period due to the regular season, playoffs, and playouts, the season promises to be interesting even from a purely aesthetic point of view. We have selected the most interesting kits for the 2024/25 season.
S.P.A.L. Away - Macron
It was bound to happen sooner or later. The city of Ferrara, Italy, has been a major reference point for streetwear in the country since the 1990s. The credit goes entirely to SlamJam, a company founded by Luca Benini, which has been instrumental in bringing cult brands like Stüssy to Italy. Until now, it had never happened that the club and the store collaborated to create a kit, but it was only a matter of time. The Away kit, made by Macron, alternates gray and black colors and features the logo of Uncorporate Uniforms, a brand owned by SlamJam, founded by Benini a few years ago.
Latina Calcio Home - Ezeta
The Latina Calcio represents the biggest aesthetic revolution among Serie C clubs. A total rebranding has led to the creation of a new logo, which has provoked protests from the most loyal fans, and two new kits, designed by Ezeta, which completely overturn the design of the previous versions, marking a clear break from those of the last two years, created in collaboration with Nike. The concept of both kits is inspired by the local territory and its stories, particularly the figure of the Maga Circe, who according to legend lived on the island of Eea, now identified with the Promontorio del Circeo, a historical and natural landmark for the entire Pontine coast. The kits are also inspired by Homer, who in the tenth book of the Odyssey describes the encounter between Ulysses and the Maga Circe, an episode depicted on a famous 5th-century BC vase attributed to the Painter of Persephone. The shirts draw inspiration from floral geometries and Greek motifs that, according to tradition, decorated this vase.
Triestina Home - Kappa
It really doesn’t take much to make a big impact, as demonstrated by Triestina and Kappa, continuing with a line of kits that always manage to surprise everyone, fans and non-fans alike. The city of Trieste has been historically linked to the symbol of the halberd since the 13th century, which has naturally become central to the Triestina's crest and, therefore, Kappa chose to repeat it on the elegant white collar. A shirt that is almost perfect.
Campobasso Third - Diaza Football Clothing
In recent years, the trend of shirts featuring maps or geographical charts shows no sign of slowing down. The most interesting aspect is seeing how designers reinterpret this concept in always new ways, highlighting or concealing the central feature of the shirt. One of the Italian clubs continuing this trend is Campobasso, with a completely golden Third jersey, designed by Diaza Football Clothing. The design integrates perfectly with the logo of the wolf and the Serie D shield, won in the 2023/2024 season.
Lanerossi Vicenza Home - FILA
When it comes to Italian entrepreneurs always active in the clothing sector, the transition from Luca Benini to Renzo Rosso is brief. The classic white and red striped shirt of Lanerossi Vicenza is an "instant classic", thanks also to the logos of Diesel as the commercial sponsor and FILA as the technical sponsor, which has returned to prominence in Italian football thanks to the Veneto club.
