PUMA shirts for African national teams
Ready for AFCON 2025
November 15th, 2024
The AFCON will undoubtedly be one of the most highly anticipated events in the world of football in 2025, and PUMA doesn't want to be caught unprepared. After signing a sponsorship and promotion contract for the entire tournament, the brand has now presented all the national team jerseys with the puma logo on the chest that will compete for the continental title. Morocco, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Ghana are the federations involved, with the Home and Away jerseys designed to celebrate the tradition and aesthetics of each country with personalized details and design choices.
The most interesting ones are those created by the two co-founders of the Dutch brand Daily Paper, Abderrahmane Trabsini and Jefferson Osei, respectively for Morocco and Ghana. In the case of Morocco, the inspiration comes from Moroccan and Berber craftsmanship, with traditional zellige tile patterns present on the Home kit with intricate geometric designs symbolizing unity, eternity and craftsmanship. The Away kit instead uses symbols that characterize Moroccan carpets, representing protection, fertility and harmony.
Jefferson Osei, originally from Ghana, has collaborated with painter Daniel Alum Jasper for a star print on the Home kit on a white base that, with the players' sweat, makes the shape more pronounced. The yellow Away kit pays tribute to Ghana's "Gold Coast" and represents the colors often present in Ghanaian culture, with adinkra symbols on the sleeves of the jersey.
