The FC Köln jersey dedicated to the city's pub culture
One of the best retro releases of 2024/25
January 16th, 2025
Following a rapidly growing trend, namely the release-after-release of special kits, FC Köln and Hummel have unveiled their Special Kit for the 2024/25 season. After clubs like Aston Villa, Newcastle, and many others, the German club also taps into the most effective force in sports: nostalgia. Unlike other clubs, FC Köln has made no changes to its crest, which will feature the current version, last updated in 2014. The FC Köln retro kit is presented in a color very similar to Bayern Munich's Third kit, the one made with the adidas Trefoil logo. The off-white shade ties in consistently with the concept of a retro kit, thus aligning with the nostalgia theme, aiming to rediscover the heritage of fan culture linked to a historic club.
The club’s note specifies that the inspiration behind the Special Kit comes from the Pub Culture of the city, particularly the Büdchen, traditional small kiosks. This concept will also influence the release method: before being available online, the kit will be launched in some Büdchen, which will be announced soon by the club. As for the features of the kit, it is made of a thick fabric with a waffle texture, with an embroidered retro FC logo, the WE:FC print on the collar, and an oversized fit. It is a limited edition that will never be worn on the field, a true fan jersey.
