The capsule collection of New York Cosmos by Admiral Sports
A journey back in time to 1979, when Pelé's team dominated soccer

Now that the MLS is becoming one of the most important football leagues outside of Europe, with new franchises being added every season and great players arriving not only to secure their last contract of their career, Admiral Sports launches a capsule collection that takes us back in time, when football in the USA had New York as its epicenter. It's 1979 and the New York Cosmos are the most important team in the most important city in the world, between Madison Square Garden and Studio 54, after winning the national title for the second consecutive time, led by Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto, and Giorgio Chinaglia. A few seasons earlier, the legendary Pelé had ended his career wearing the same jersey, the only one he wore besides those of Santos and the Brazilian national team.
Now Admiral Sports has decided to bring back to life the design used during the late 1970s for the New York Cosmos thanks to an exclusive capsule collection. The heart of the collection consists of the 1979 home and away retro jerseys, as well as a classic green Cosmos tracksuit. These pieces are accompanied by fan t-shirts, tees, and a blackout line, a reference to New York's streetwear culture. It was during this golden period that Admiral Sports became the technical sponsor of the Cosmos, introducing a new and bold kit that shifted the club's secondary color from green to blue. Designed in collaboration with Ralph Lauren, an icon of American fashion, it marked the first true intersection between fashion and football, setting a precedent for style both on and off the team. A tradition that, forty years after the franchise's dissolution, still remains woven into the sports history of the Big Apple, a true cultural institution in New York.
