Why can't Bayern use the Home jersey in the Champions League?

Yesterday the first round of the knockout phase of the new Champions League ended, which saw various surprises both in terms of results and aesthetic choices on the pitch. In particular, Bayern Munich descended to Celtic Park in Glasgow wearing the Away jersey made by adidas, taking inspiration from the Bavaria statue, a bronze sculpture representing a female figure symbolizing the patron saint of Bavaria. It is not new for the away team to use the second jersey, leaving the home team the honor of wearing the Home uniform, but apparently we will hardly see the classic Home jersey of Bayern Munich in this final phase of the Champions League.

In fact, the kit does not comply with UEFA regulations regarding the visibility of numbers and jersey names, according to which there must be a clear contrast between the color used for the writing and the color of the base of the jersey. Technically, the distance between the two shades must be greater than a value of 30 Delta L, the unit of measurement chosen by UEFA to define the value of individual colors. However, it is important to specify that the Home kit of Bayern Munich has not been banned by UEFA, which only asks that the color chosen for names and numbers be changed, as was done for example by the same Bavarian team in the 2020-2021 season with the light gray Away kit, on which the details went from orange to black.

In the Bundesliga, however, the situation is different, with Bayern Munich able to use the Home kit as it was made at the beginning of the season by adidas, without any modifications. We will see in a week which jersey the Kompany team will present on the pitch, this time at home at the Allianz Arena. Whether Adidas will agree to modify the Home jersey or if Celtic will play with the Away jersey, thus leaving the possibility for Bayern to wear the Third Kit with the Trefoil, an unusual choice for the Bavarians who remain very attached to their main color.
