Football is passion, good playing, enthusiasm, but also - if not above all - hunger for victories. This need to win some trophies and glory is the true energy that fuels football’s economy, almost entirely focused on the concept of “success”. It’s a clear example of that the continuous fight among sports brands for getting the best athletes and strongest teams, in order to associate their image with successful clubs and football players.
According to a research from VoucherCode, the brand with the highest percentage of wins, thanks to “its” clubs is Nike. Beaverton’s company has supplied the 51,4% of last ten years’ winning teams, with some giants like Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG, Inter and Juventus. Nike’s slice is considerably the biggest, as adidas - which places itself on the second place - only has the 28,5% of total winning. The research includes the five major leagues in Europe, and of course Champions and Europa League. And the minor sister of the Champions is responsible for Joma, Warrior and New Balance’s wins, especially with Sevilla’s European triumphs.
Among the other outsiders, there’s Puma’s Premier League with Ranieri’s Leicester City, Robe di Kappa’s one with Jürgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund and Umbro’s with Manchester City, with the first title decided by Sergio Agüero’s late goal. In the future, Under Armour could become part of this list, as it has already got Liverpool and aims to become Real Madrid’s next supplier.
