Basketball sneakers for everyone

From some time now, LeBron James and Nike’s mission about sneakers has been to make sports shoes more and more accessible. Yes, because a pair of laces can be a barrier if affected by particular syndromes or handicaps, while Cavs’ number 23 and Beaverton’s company want every basketball lover to be able to wear the last NBA finals’ MVP’s shoes, regardless his physical condition.

The last pair of LeBron Soldier - which he used to win the title last year - already featured a laceless technology, which has been further improved. Nike, in fact, has presented the LeBron Soldier 10 FlyEase, sneakers that feature a revolutionary system that will improve handicap-influenced boys’ life. The FlyEase technology it’s not only laceless but also equipped with a  system that makes the insertion of the foot so much easier, even with particular disabilities.

“One of the key learnings we’ve had in crafting accessible footwear is the importance of easy entry and exit of the shoe, not just simplifying its fastening system,” says Tobie Hatfield, Nike Senior Director of Athlete Innovation. “Eliminating the intricate hand movement of lace tying is important, but if the athlete cannot get their foot into the shoe, lacing becomes a moot point”. Thanks to a velcro straps system, the Nike LeBron Soldier FlyEase can be worn easily by anybody, King James Included.

The Chosen One hosted some children from the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation in Cavs’ training facility, to give them a pair of LeBron Soldier in person. James also spent some time with the kids, showing them how to wear a pair of their new sneakers or just hanging with them.
