Puma and OM together from 2018
The French side is ready to leave adidas to dream big in France and Europe
March 27th, 2017
A few days ago, in the streets of Marseille, a few white and pale-blue - OM’s traditional colors - Puma-branded banners appeared. They were banners praising Maradona, and the football tradition of the brand and the French club. The two companies, in fact, are bonded by a very long and successful story and represent two of the most successful brands in football.
After the previews and Equipe’s anticipations about the alleged break-up between OM and adidas, today the announcement arrived directly from Puma's CEO, Bjoern Gulden: starting from April 1st, 2018, Puma will become the official partner, global technical supplier and official licensing partner of Olympique. A very important move, which makes OM the most important French club to wear Puma, as confirmed by OM CEO Eyraud: "OM will be for Puma the most important French club and we've been very impressed with its managing will to support us actively on an international level. It's an unbelievable proof of trust for our "OM Champion Project". The present deal will provide us significant incomes to guarantee us to reach our sports goals. It's the most important commercial deal in the history of the club".
Puma, then, is about to snatch an important pawn from adidas' chessboard, adding Marseille to its collection that already counts Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Leicester and the Italian National team, other than important players like Griezmann, Aguero, Buffon, and Verratti. It's an important deal for Puma, which is trying to compete at the highest levels, joining the fight with Nike and adidas, before the forthcoming arrive of Under Armour.
The OM and Puma's presenting campaign was created by Malo_A which photographed the banners around the city, in an urban style that matches with the recent releases of the German brand.
