Any guess on the most selling players and teams?
April 12th, 2017
The end of the NBA regular season is coming and, as always in these moments, it comes the moment to make the first evaluations. And waiting to have the definitive playoff bracket, to the ‘best plays’ videos on NBA youtube channel, we can at least see the top selling NBA shirts of these last months of basketball.
The data, both for singular players and teams, confirm last years’ trend. Among the players, in fact, four of the first five athletes are members of Golden State or Cleveland, with only Russell Westbrook - who is having a sensational season - capable of breaking into the top-5. A very interesting position for Porzingis and Antetokounmpo, seventh and eight, while is quite disappointing to see James Harden as tenth. It’s also curios the 12th position of Derrick Rose, which confirms himself as one of the most beloved players by the fans, even if he had quite a bad season with the Knicks, ended with the umpteenth injury.
The complete chart:
1. Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors #30
2. LeBron James – Cleveland Cavaliers #23
3. Kevin Durant – Golden State Warriors #35
4. Russell Westbrook – Oklahoma City Thunder #0
5. Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers #2
6. Kawhi Leonard – San Antonio Spurs #2
7. Kristaps Porzingis – New York Knicks #6
8. Jimmy Butler – Chicago Bulls #21
9. Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee Bucks #34
10. James Harden – Houston Rockets #13
11. Dwyane Wade – Chicago Bulls #3
12. Derrick Rose – New York Knicks #25
13. Klay Thompson, – Golden State Warriors #11
14. Isaiah Thomas – Boston Celtics #4
15. Damian Lillard – Portland Trail Blazers #0
No surprises either in the single teams’ chart with the Warriors that, regarding the loss in the last NBA Finals, are still the top selling team in the league. Second place for the NBA Champions Cleveland Cavaliers, followed by three ‘noble (more or less) fallen’, Bulls, Lakers and the Knicks. San Antonio and OKC, sixth and seventh, keep up the southern honor, while Boston, Philly and Toronto the northern one. Particularly interesting 76ers’ ninth place - on a total of 30 teams - that returns to have a certain appeal for the NBA fans.
