The club's supporters want to name the stadium after Max Morlock
May 8th, 2017
If you are in Nuremberg and you want to visit the local stadium, the Frankenstadion - that actually right now has the name of a German electronics company - you can’t avoid stepping by Max-Morlock-Platz, the square in front of the stadium dedicated to one of the local heroes. No, the local hero.
And it was his name that gave birth to a unique and beautiful initiative, that we decided to tell you. Thanks to Consorsbank contribute, 1. FCN’s supporters started a crowdfunding campaign to reach an ambitious goal, to make the Nuremberg stadium the Max-Morlock Stadium, honoring the most representative player in the history of the club. To do that, the campaign must collect €800,000 within 45 days, with the Consorsbank committed - in the case of success - to contribute the remaining 2.4 million to make the dream become true.
The initiative goes way beyond football and its supporters, as it involves all the city of Nuremberg. Supporters, restaurateurs, politicians, entrepreneurs, all wanted to push for this adventure to begin, hoping that now football and 1. FC Nürnberg’s enthusiasts contribute to realized this so desired dream of the Max-Morlock Stadium. A man, before then a footballer, that left a mark in the city, way beyond the 472 games and almost 300 goals with 1. FCN.’s shirt.
The campaign kicked off on March 31st and is running until May 14th - you can contribute here - and it’s still looking to reach its goal. If you want to help Nuremberg’s citizens and supporters to realize a dream as big as a stadium, you know what you have to do.
