adidas Football extend its MLS deal until 2024
The new partnership is the richest ever signed by the American league, that will receive $700 million in six years

As some of you may know, the deals for the technical sponsorships work a little bit different in the US than they do in Europe, as most of the times the leagues themselves finalize new contracts with brands, that supply all the teams without distinction. It’s not different for the Major League Soccer, that in fact has just signed the most profitable contract in its history.
The MLS, in fact, has just announced a six-year extension of the existing deal with adidas Football, that will now last until 2024. It’s not just the largest investments made by the Three Stripes for football in North America, but also the richest contract ever signed by the American football league. Starting from 2018, in fact, each team that composes the two Conferences - divided between Eastern and Western, like for basketball, and likely to be expanded with other clubs - will receive $5 million per year, three times more than they have ever got so far.
Celebrate the past. Create the future.

The new agreement with adidas will last for six years, with the German brand that will supply all the technical material for every team in the MLS, for an amount of $700 million, $117M per year. It’s almost five times bigger than the first contract signed in 2004, that brought into the league’s pockets $150M in ten years ($15M per year). The eight-year long deal signed in 2010 was also quite lower, as it worth $200M, approximately $25M per year.
This deal is very satisfying for both parts, with the MLS that can now count on the support - also, if not mostly economical - of one of the most important brands in the world, that on its side will benefit of the expected growth of the league in terms of visibility, that will come from this new economical power. As they say on the other side of the ocean: “Everybody wins”.
