"El clasico" Proper's mugs pay tribute to Real and Barça vintage kits
Proper created a set of mugs to celebrate the most important rivality of Spain
September 19th, 2017
After the mugs dedicated to the great Parma, the Old Firm and the classic Bayern's kit, Proper just dropped a new set of mugs with the charm of the '90s football taste. This time they are celebrating the greatest rivalry in Spanish football: El Classico, the eternal clash between the Real Madrid and Barcellona. The design and the colorway of the mugs are inspired by the iconic kits from '90s.
The Real Madrid's mug takes us back to the 2000 Champions League Final which saw Madrid wear a black and gold jersey as Steve McManaman put a stamp on the club’s European supremacy against Valencia. The mug in this case is much less true to form, however, the colors as well Proper‘s clever take on classic sponsorship IEKA are enough to make the connection clear.
For Barcelona's mug, Proper pays tribute to the early 90’s, a period which saw the club win numerous La Liga titles, one European Championship, as well as one Ballon d’Or by way of its star player, Hristo Stoichkov. The era is encapsulated in a mug that resurrects a classic Blaugrana design as once interpreted by Italian sportswear manufacturer, Kappa.
