After a quick look at the upcoming KITH x Nike collaboration sneakers highlighted by the Air Pippen 1 and Air Maestro II, KITH and Nike now celebrate Scottie Pippen‘s 52nd birthday today with a short film starring Pippen himself and his son, Scottie Pippen Jr. It showcases Pippen narrating and reflecting on the evolution of basketball and his role in its development, as it begins in the mid-1990s and recreates four iconic Pippen plays before moving into the present and introduces the concept of being timeless. The video also marks as Ronnie Fieg’s directorial debut.
Scottie Pippen didn’t just redefine what it means to be a supporting player. He injected a level of greatness to it and solidified it as a crucial piece to a championship dynasty. In the 90s, Nike recognized Pippen’s contributions and made him the face of a budding category within Nike Basketball that exemplified the perfect blend of Force and Flight. It was called Uptempo, coincidences?
