Tiempo '94 meets Air Jordan 1 by The Shoe Surgeon
A clash of cultures and sports
October 9th, 2017
Football and NBA: two worlds that rarely talk and interact. Especially during the '80s and '90s the NBA's fashion taste turned to the signature sneakers while football waited until this decade to bound the shoes with the players. To bring together this two old world, The Shoe Surgeon - aka Dominic Chambrone - designed a sick crossover sneaker that mixes two iconic shoes: the prestigious Jordan 1 and the Tiempo '94 boots by Nike.
The silhouette of the shoes follows the Jordan 1's design, the first sneaker to break the pitch's boundaries and dominating the street scene for countless years becoming a symbol for a generation. The oversized tongue on the shoe is a clear reference to the Tiempo '94, a legendary boot by Nike designed for USA '94 World Cup. The boots were worn by ten players out of twenty-two during the final between Italy and Brazil, including Romario and Maldini.
It's not the first time that The Shoe Surgeon brings together two designs from different sports. Four months ago he designed 'Copa Rose': a unique shoe, that mashes up the Copa Mundial's upper with D Rose 7's heel counter, midsole, and outsole.
