HANON x Diadora Squash "St. Clair"
A shoe that tells one of the forgotten fairytale of European football: Aberdeen FC beating Real Madrid
We love when shoes tell a story, especially if it's about an epic football story. With this mindset, HANON joined forces with Diadora - the hottest sportswear brand right now - to celebrate "the Spirit of '83". In May 1983 the Aberdeen football club - a glorious Scottish club - faced the great Real Madrid in the European Cup Winners' Cup final in Gothenburg, Sweden. Despite all the odds, the team composed just by Scotts players and led by a young manager Alex Ferguson won the game beat the Spanish giant with a goal scored in the extra time, conquering the trophy.
Drawing inspiration from the team's European fairytale, HANON pays homage to the St. Clair - the legendary ferry chartered to ship Aberdeen's fans in a one-off voyage to the Final in Gothenburg. The shoe is handcrafted in Italy, it mimics the colors of the St. Clair and is finished in sky blue and black with white accents. A luxurious pig suede upper is offset with a kangaroo leather tongue and heel tab, calf leather lining, and footbed, and ostrich leather side stripe.
Diadora took the shoe to another level with some small and incredible details. On the heel, the number '112' is shown to remember the minute in which John Hewitt score the winning gol. Both the footbed and tongue backer are leather laminated and a rain pattern is printed on the insole to depict the weather on the night of the Final. Each pair also comes in a custom box and dustbag with 3 lace sets to go with it.
