Colombia's Notti Magiche
For Los Cafeteros, adidas realized a kit inspired by the Italia 90 World Cup
November 7th, 2017
You can’t have missed the wave of vintage nostalgia that hit the national teams in the last hours, with adidas Football releasing several kits - Germany, Argentina, Belgium’s ones among others - all inspired by some old gems of the Eighties and Nineties. Among other, the Three Stripes also presented Colombia new home shirt. Los Cafeteros, that earned their qualification for Russia 2018 during the last crazy match-day of the South-American qualification stage, have a shirt inspired by the one used for the magic 1990 World Cup in Italy.
The classic Colombia yellow, in fact, has been embellished by three striking stripes, two red and one blue, on the chest, faithfully inspired by the 1990 kit. adidas’ stripes, also blue, are on the shoulders, confirming this new graphic cut that many new kits feature. The blue shorts also remember the ones worn during the Italian nights, while the socks are different, being red instead of yellow. At the same time, adidas presented the goalkeeper kit, inspired by the once worn by the legendary René Higuita in 1994. On a black basis is placed a purple horizontal stripes pattern, with striking green adidas’ three stripes on the shoulders.
