Nowadays, it’s no longer a mystery that the relationship between LeBron James and Dwyane Wade goes way beyond the normal teammate-to-teammate. The ship between the Ohio native and former Miami Heat’s number 3 has been going on for several years now (we talked about that) bringing the two to share many moments outside the hardwood, including the summer vacations (did someone say Banana Boat?). Now, this partnership has arrived in the television, as James and Wade teamed up with Chance the Rapper and Fox Sports Film to produce “MAGNIFY”, a series of docu-movies about sports, about its challenges and what it represents for the American communities.
The first one to be aired it will be a proper movie - 82 minutes - called “89 Blocks”. Set for November 26, it has been realized by LeBron Jeames and UNINTERRUPTED, in collaboration with Sports Illustrated, and it will tell the story of East St. Louis High School Flyers football team and their journey through the 2016 season. Then it will be aired “Shot in the Dark”, produced by Los Angeles Media Fund in collaboration with two Chicago natives, Dwyane Wade and Chance the Rapper. Set for February 2018, “Shot in the Dark” will tell the story of Orr Academy basketball team and some of its players, testifying the struggles in dealing with such an important commitment while facing the fact of being born and raised in South Side Chicago.
“Basketball empowered me to overcome the challenges of growing up on the South Side of Chicago”, said Wade. “The odds were stacked against me, and the game changes the course of my life. It’s important to share these true stories of triumph to inspire the next generation to achieve their dreams when faced with life’s obstacles”. Further stories will talk about the plane disaster that in 2016 almost ended Brazilian football club Chapecoense and about NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
