European Cup's Nostalgia

Milan 1988-89 vintage shirt limited edition European Cup's Nostalgia

The vintage football shirt trend is definitely taking over in the mainstream football world. To witness it there the new adidas shirts for the Wolrd Cup, all inspired by the 90s' fashion, and the re-edition by many clubs - like Inter and Roma - of their vintage uniforms. Now it is Milan's turn: yesterday the Rossoneri presented on their online shop a retrò shirt replica of the one from 1988-89 when they won the first European Cup of the Berlusconi Era beating Steaua Bucarest 4 0 at Camp Nou.

That season was glorious for Milan: they came from the win of the Scudetto in the previous season, and in the summer they reunited the Dutch trio Van Basten-Gullit-Rijkaard. Arrigo Sacchi was sitting on the bench starting the revolution of football that would have open the doors to the Pep Guardiola's tiki-taka. The shirt worn by Milan during the season it's classic: red and black small stripes for the home jersey, white with just two lines on the chest. The shirt features the tricolor scudetto that certifies the championship's victory in the previous season while Mediolanum sponsor stands for its second consecutive season on the team uniforms of then-President Berlusconi.

The replica edition is really similar to the original. It's 100% polyester and the basic edition costs 50 euros - for both colorways - plus ten for the number on the back. It is available also a limited Franco Baresi edition with the number 6 on the back and the captain's signature on it.

The shirt is available on Milan's online shop.
