The crowd is screaming while Kyrie approaches the defender. He stops, while is dangling searching for a weakness in the opponents’ defense, always moving his eyes and the basketball. Suddenly, with the quickness of the lightning, he finds a gap and attacks it without hesitation. One, two, three changes of directions, the TD Garden is holding its breath, then he scored and the Celtic crowd loses it. It’s on this kind of emotions that Nike designer Benjamin Nethongkome based his project on Irving’s latest signature shoe, the Nike Kyrie 4.

On this and, of course, on the indications of the newest Boston Celtics superstar, that has made a trademark out of his unpredictable and flooring style of play. Of course, such a quickness in the movements need the right kind of “tools”, and that’s why the Nike Kyrie 4 features a zig-zag flex grove outsole to provide unrivaled traction. The outsole continues to wrap up and around the foot, placing an emphasis on quickness and speed. The Cushlon midsole, the Zoom Air heel zone, the engineered mesh upper, and a series of material and aesthetic choices influenced by Irving’s passion for vintage pairs of Nike and Jordan, complete this Kyrie 4.

The design of the Kyrie 4, that yet innovating Celtics number 11’s new signature shoes also takes inspiration from the previous Kyrie 1, 2 and 3, is represented by two different colorways, “Confetti” and Blk/Wht. Particularly the “Confetti” one, that will be available at some House of Hoops US stores, SNKRS app, and Nike Basketball selected retailers, are a mental reminder of Warriors’ celebrations in the last NBA Finals and about Irving’s feelings facing defeat. The Nike Kyrie 4 Blk/Wht will be available from December 20.
