January 22nd, 2018
During the game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, one of the best players on the hardwood has been Paul George, who scored 36 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. The former Pacers had a really hot hand, having one of those nights when it looks like you’re playing 2K. The combination is not random, as for the game in Ohio George debuted his new signature shoe, the PG2, with a colorway dedicate to his biggest passion: PlayStation.
Within the rules that George and designer Tony Hardman followed to design the PG2, in fact, there was also the idea to “take it beyond basketball”, embracing George’s favorite hobby: PlayStation, as he considers himself one of the biggest gamers in the NBA. The second rule was to “give it an edge”, concretized with the new lacing system. It’s more traditional than George first signature shoe’s one, more comfortable and if fits with every foot. The third rule, “fine tune, then fine tune again”, found its concretization with the Zoom Air unity, that has been increased to improve the amortization of the shoe. As Paul George’s game knows no limit of improving, so does it signature shoe.
“Design for the next generation”, was another George and Hardman’s motto, as they also considered all those athletes that aren’t Paul George but still use the PG2, as they did for the PG1 in the last months. Finally, “Let the performance do the talking”, as it will prove both PG2 and who wears them worth. Cleveland game gave you an idea.
The first release of the Nike PG2 will be a special colorway dedicated to the PlayStation, available in limited numbers from February 10. The main colors are the same of the console, black and blue, with several recalls to the “Play”, like the symbols from the controller, placed in the back part of the upper. Other than colored Swoosh and midsoles, this special PG2 has both George and PlayStation’s signature logos, both places on the tongue and the inner sole.
