Nike unveils Portugal kits for 2018 World Cup
CR7 and Quaresma will wear classic this summer
March 20th, 2018
Nike presented today the Portugal kits for 2018 World Cup in Russia. The team captained by Cristiano Ronaldo won his first international trophy two years ago during the European Championship and the whole collection designed by Nike is inspired by the celebration of that success, as confirmed by Pete Hoppins, Nike's senior design director: “The collection is inspired by the success of two years ago. That comes through in the home kit with this concept of modern royalty. From Luis Figo to Cristiano, Portugal have a number of iconic characters who have led and united the squad.” To model the new uniforms Swoosh has focused on some elements of the old Portuguese guard, of course, Captain CR7, Quaresma and Bruno Alves, and the more promising young Andalusians like Joao Mario, André Gomes and André Silva, who however are living all three a rather disappointing season.
Home
The home shirt of Portugal has a very classic and clean design: traditional red colorway with green details, the only innovative elements are the golden Swoosh and the numbers celebrating the European victory two years ago. The uniform is completed by red shorts and socks. From a technological point of view, the jersey uses the Fast Fit Vaporknit as a base that facilitates movement and transpiration in the most critical areas.
Away
The second jersey is slightly more experimental: on a white base a pattern of small water-green wind roses has been inserted, one of the symbols of the village. The kit is completed by white shorts and socks.
Collection
The Portugal home kit will be available March 23 on Nike.com, the away kit will be available April 26.
