Record Breakers
Not only Manchester City won the Premier League but also rewrote its history
May 14th, 2018
This Premier League season has been very peculiar, as it has been very competitive for all the positions between the 2nd and the 20th and no fought at all for the matter of the first place. Since the very beginning of the season, in fact, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City has watched everyone else from above, conquering a gap so huge that allowed it to celebrate the title weeks ahead of the end of the season. Citizens, though, didn’t settle for that and yesterday decided to write the Premier League history once again.

In the last game played at the Etihad Stadium against Brighton - were we also witnessed the debut of the new home kit made by Nike Football - the ‘Guardiola Gang’ won 3-1 thanks to Danilo, Bernardo Silva and Fernandinho’s goals (btw, all assisted by Leroy Sané), smashing not one, not two but three new records for the English championship. Manchester City, in fact, set a new record for points conquered (97, with the chance to get to 100), wins in a season (31) and goals scored (105), entering in the history of the Premier League once for all as one of the most dominant club ever. Pep Guardiola did it again.
