We Are All Witnesses

For several years, outside of the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, there has been a massive billboard with a pic of LeBron James and the writing “We are all witnesses”. And even if that billboard is no longer there - it has been replaced with another LeBron James one - that slogan invented by Nike is still very relevant. In fact, last night we witnessed the umpteenth alien performance by the Akron native, headed to the NBA Finals for the eight time in a row, witnessed what it could really become - whether you like it or not - the best basketball player in history.

Of course, it’s not possible to get everything down to that Game 7 of the conference finals or forgetting about how the Cavs have faced a Celtic team without Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward that somehow managed to have a spectacular series, making the TD Garden and all NBA enthusiasts fall in love with them. When reached the crucial moment, though, they weren’t able to stop King James, even with a 10-0 home record during these playoffs. But on the other hand, no one did manage to stop him since 2010, when the very Celtics stopped the Cavs during LBK’s first run with the wine and gold, making him decide to leave Ohio and take the infamous ‘Decision’ to sign for the Miami Heat. Since then? Twenty-four (24!) Eastern Conference series played… Twenty-four series won.

And even last night, being his 100th games played in the season (he played all 48 minutes), with all the freshness and energy for the Celtics pushed by the TD Garden, with the worst (no offense) supporting cast since his return to Cleveland, LeBron answered the call when he had to. 35 points, 15 rebounds, 9 assists (and also 8 turnovers) that actually make no justice to his impact on the game. Now, we only have to see which team is going to win the Western Conference Finals game 7 but regardless of that, we already know that we’ll be able to see at least another four games with that freak-show called LeBron James. “We are all witnesses”, and we’re good with that.
