Three crazy skins for adidas' Glitch athletes
The Three Stripes gave some of its athletes new exclusive skins ahead of the next World Cup round
June 21st, 2018
If you thought that the football boot releases dedicated to the World Cup ended… before the World Cup itself, well, think again. At the beginning of the second round of group stage, adidas Football presented three special colorways, dedicated to as many footballers, for the Glitch. As you should know by now, the adidas Glitch is the Three Stripes’ boot that allows changing the shoe’s ‘skins’, just like you change your phone’s cover, keeping the same ‘body’. Right now, they’re only available in England, Germany, and France but we hope to see them in Italy in the future.
The hope comes from the fact that one of these insane skins presented by adidas is thought for Paulo Dybala, that has just been announced as the newest testimonial for the Three Stripes. Dybala’s model is called “The Jewel”, an obvious reference to “La Joya”, which is Juventus striker’s nickname. The skin for the Argentinian talent is iridescent, with a series of changing colors on the upper. The second skin, “The Lion”, has been made for Presnel Kimpembe, that could debut at the World Cup tonight against Perù. The name says it all about the skin, that features a zebra-striped design with the graphic of a biting lion.
The third and last skin is for Benjamin Mendy, the eccentric Manchester City defender that has missed most part of the season for a ruptured ACL and thas is eager to prove himself at the World Cup. For him, adidas created “The Shark”, another skin that needs no introduction. It’s probably the craziest of the lot, as it features a silver upper with the design of a shark bite.
Unlike the skins of the “Glitch World Cup” - colored with the flags of the national teams - these three colorways will be exclusives for adidas’ Glitch athletes and won’t be up for sale, at least at this moment.
