New Balance unveiled "442" football boot

Since when it has become a player in the football boots world, New Balance has almost entirely focused on producing models that followed the hype wave of the moment. The Furon and the Tekela, the two silos unveiled for the World Cup, are a clear example, presenting high-performance synthetic materials alongside bold and striking colorways. But now, New Balance decided to embrace a wider group of football enthusiasts: nostalgic ones. And it’s doing it with a shoe which name says it all: the ‘442’.

New Balance’s new boot, which naming is an obvious reference to the most iconic tactic used by managers since the very beginning of the beautiful game, is the quintessence of classicality applied to the most iconic tool for every footballer. The leather upper is black without any particular gewgaws if just the white “N” letter on the side. The white soleplate is almost the only colored detail of the boot, that also presents a traditional lacing system - of course - and the “442” writing on the fold over tongue, with also a graphic representation of the tactic with a series of black dots. So, New Balance created the perfect boot for every nostalgic of the kangaroo leather dirtied by the mud of the suburbs’ pitches.
