Another year with Vincredible
Now it's official: Vince Carter has signed with Atlanta Hawks for the nex season
July 26th, 2018
As reported yesterday on its Twitter page by the ESPN journalist Adrian Wojnarowsky, at 41 years old Vince Carter has just signed a one year contract with Atlanta Hawks at a minimum salary for a veteran like him (2.4 millions). For Tracy McGrady's cousin, this will be the twenty-first season in the NBA, a record that shares with Dirk Nowitzki (who just renewed the contract with the Dallas Mavericks), Kevin Garnett, Robert Parish and Kevin Willis.
8 times All Star player, winner of the best dunk contest of all time - in Oakland, in 2000, with the famous quote "it's over" - but above all the player that made the "dunk de la mort" (the dunk of death), one of the most beautiful in the history of the sport. Sydney, September 25, 2000. In the elimination rounds of the Olympics, USA are playing against France. Carter intercepts a passage stopping a fast break and moves in big steps towards the hoop, between him and the basket there's only Frederic Weis, 218cm tall.
Vince jumps from the last mark of the little area, from a halt position, a forced arrest basically, Weis stands still ready to take in what supposedly had to be a breakthrough, but the breakthrough never arrives. Vincredible literally jumps on his head, puts a hand on his shoulder and flies over him to deliver one of the most amazing dunks of all time. And Weis? About this he said: "That day I learnt that men can fly too."
To celebrate another year with Mr. Air Canada we go through his best NBA dunks, enjoy the show.
