Premier League introduces yellow and red cards for managers
From the next season, they will be punished for inappropriate behaviors juts like footballers
August 1st, 2018
This morning, a terrible news came for José Mourinho and all Premier League managers that have a reputation of being grumpy. In fact, the board that manages the English championship announced that from the 2018/2019 season, the managers will receive yellow and red cards, just like their players on the pitch. Actually, Premier League managers will only receive “verbal cautions for irresponsible behavior”, while in the FA Cup, Football League, EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and National League games there will be proper cards.
The verbal cautions, though, will actually serve as proper yellow cards, as the accumulations of ‘cautions’ will warrant a one-game ban. This changes everything, as referees were previously forced to only ‘warn’ managers before eventually sending them on the stands. Cautions and cards will be issued for actions like inappropriate language or gestures towards match officials, kicking or throwing water bottles, sarcastic clapping and waving imaginary cards.
