Wesley Sneijder by Blood In Blood Out
The Dutch collective homage the cap record holder with a special mashup jersey
September 11th, 2018
It’s been a few days since when Wesley Sneijder played his 143rd and last game with the shirt of the Netherland national team. In the game played against Perù at the Amsterdam ArenA - now Johan Cruijff Arena - Wesley didn’t score but still got his standing ovation from the Oranje fans, who cheered the cap recordman with the national team, capable of overcoming players like Van Persie, Robben, De Boer, and Van Der Sar. To celebrate this special day, Bood In Blood Out, a Dutch collective that is specialized in custom kits, has created a special mashup Netherland jersey.
The shirt features (almost) every Nike shirt was worn by Sneijder with the national team, with a particular focus on 2010 and 2014 ‘world cup’ edition. In fact, in the first edition, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid player was the protagonist of the quarter-final against Brazil, scoring two goals and leading Holland to the final, lost at the extra time against Spain. Four years later, the Oranje were stopped in the semifinal by Argentina, still having a memorable World Cup for them and Sneijder himself. Both the patches of these World Cups are featured on the sleeves, respectively the left and right one.
