The first female Ballon d'Or
France Football has just announced a new award, with another one for the best U21
September 24th, 2018
It's a historic day for the famous French sports magazine France Football: in addition to the Golden Ball, the title that each year has since 1956 is assigned to the most representative player of the season, two new contests have been established: it will be awarded a prize to the best female player of the season and another also to the best under 21 player. The addition of this new category relating to women is nothing but the first consequence of the evolution of the sport, which is increasingly reducing the gap between the male and female universe, a decisive step towards equality between the two football worlds.
Voici tout ce qu'il faut savoir sur les nouveautés du #Ballondor France Football.

We should wait until October 8th to get to know the 15 girls (while the nominated men will be 30) who will compete for the first and historic prize, while the official ceremony during which we will know the winners will take place next December 3. Who could win? The favorites are the Danish Pernille Harder (Wolfsburg), the Dutch Lieke Martens (Barcelona) and the Australian Sam Kerr (Sky Blue). Talking for the other new competition, the one related to the best Under 21 in the world and called Kopa Trophy, will be an incredible jury composed of 33 former winners of the Golden Ball to decide: there will therefore be Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but also Beckenbauer, Platini, Zidane, Cannavaro and Rivera up to the oldest still alive, Luis Suarez. In this case we can only consider Kylian Mbappé the favorite number one.
