November 21st, 2018
Perhaps you have already heard about this story in the last days by surfing the internet, or maybe not. There's an old Spanish club that is struggling for survival and has launched a very interesting project to solve a really critical financial situation. We are talking about Real Murcia, one of the two teams of the city of southern Spain (the other is UNAM) that now plays in Segunda B, the third division of Spanish football, and that up to ten years ago was in the top flight before sinking down, and now has to play 'the most important game of its centenarian history'.

What better way to use Twitter to spread the word on how to raise funds with which to pay off salaries and debts with the Federation? In Murcia they thought a very interesting project, which is fully in step with the times. In fact, 147 million of company shares have been put up for sale so that they can try to accumulate the amount necessary to prevent bankruptcy and find 18 million euros. Buying Real Murcia's shares is easy (even if the site sometimes collapsed, you just have to have a little patience) and cheap: with 1 euro and 22 cents can be purchased 10 shares, and anyone can do it, up to a maximum of 1000 euros of a single investment. By buying at least 390 shares, you get the chance to take part in the members' meeting, physically.
The entire initiative of capital increase is supported by the hashtag #Hazlotuyo (literally, 'do it yours') and is enjoying a fairly good success, not only within the national borders, even if the objective remains very far and only the entrance of big investors at the moment could help the Spanish club reach the main goal. Meanwhile, thanks to the virtual word of mouth, more than two million shares have been sold online, and the support of two top-flight clubs like Eibar and Betis has just come, as well as that of AS Roma, which has quickly involved over 600 supporters as new shareholders through an 'appeal' launched on social media. But this campaign will not last forever and is a race against time: you can take part until Friday night, so hurry up!
When we began #ASRoma’s Twitter Team of the Day series, our goal was to uplift others & bring the football community closer together.
