Palmeiras joins the PUMA family The most Italian club in Brazil began the year by switching from adidas to PUMA

PUMA doesn't stop with the end of the year. PUMA coming back in the forefront obtaining the sponsorship of historic clubs like AC Milan and symbolic players such as Suarez, David Silva, Lukaku and Kompany. If you add the rumors on the possibility  Manchester City, Van Dijk, and Kantè join into the family, we can expect fireworks in 2019. The first important news is the partnership with the most titled team in Brazil: Palmeiras.

The official long-term partnership started on January 1st and will last for the next three years. The interesting part of the deal is that Palmeiras will be the only club sponsored by PUMA in Brazil during the period. The brand presented the partnership through a video entitled "Green is the Color of Envy". The rapper Rincon Sapiência, the protagonist of the commercial, talks about the history and values of the São Paulo team, a pride that reinforces the club's identity after 12 years of adidas sponsorship. In the spot, the green is enhanced, as a symbol of rivals' envy for the successes of Palmeiras and for what is a truly unique story.

Both the home and kits launched in one swoop as part of a wider replica collection. The green shirt is the home design, while the white jersey will be worn away from home in the new season. The design is basic and uses the PUMA DRY CELL  breathable technology. The home jersey is completely green, with white collar and sleeves, as well as the Crefisa sponsor, a Brazilian credit company. The away kit reverses the colors and adds a green band along the sleeve. The most interesting details are two, the first is the red star above the crest, a symbol of the Team World Cup won in 1951, the second is the Italian flags on the sleeve and inside the collar, to remember that the Palmeiras is the most Italian team in Brazil.

The Sociedade Esportiva Palestra Itália was founded in 1914 after a tour of Turin FC and Pro Vercelli FC in Brazil, which entrusted to four Italians the responsibility to found a club in the Italian district of San Paolo. The club's foundation record is also written in Italian, while the name was changed only for political reasons during the Second World War. In the 90s the golden age of maybe the most prestigious team in Brazil began, thanks to the sponsorship of the Italian company Parmalat, owned by Calisto Tanzi. Now Palmeiras is the current champion of Brasilerão and is denominated "Champion of the century" of Brazilian football because it has conquered at least once all the national competitions he has played.

There are two former Serie A players in the squad, Felipe Melo and Gustavo Gomez, but in the past, at the Stadio Palestra Itàlia, now Allianz Parque, have played Roberto Carlos, Rivaldo, Roque Junior, Cafù, Gabriel Jesus and Altafini, and manager who made the history of Selecão as Luiz Felipe Scolari, come back this year and immediately winner.

The jersey will be worn for the first time the next 13th January, during the friendly match in homage to Zè Roberto, a real fans's idol.

The collection includes 40 pieces and will be available in Europe from 7 January on the official PUMA website and in the Palmeiras online store.
