FILA to become Maccabi Tel Aviv Fc new official supplier from 2019/20

The Italian fashion brand FILA is the new technical sponsor of Maccabi Tel Aviv FC. It is unusual news for the football world, the brand born in Piedmont in 1911 is not one of the most common among football clubs. In 1970 FILA entered the production of sports fashions and has lived a prominent moment in the 90s, the brand has also become a reference for its casual wear. The choice surprises above all because the Israeli team does not have the visibility of the European clubs, but can count on a unique history and passion. A choice by the club, which focuses on the fascination of nostalgia and its recent return as a cool value of footballing passion, "I believe both the Players and the Supporters will enjoy the kit designs and product ranges", as said by the CEO of Maccabi Ben Mansford.

The sponsorship will cover a period of three years and will start with the beginning of 2019/2020 season. FILA will supply the Club’s official kit, training and leisure wear with effect from the 2019-20 season. Maccabi is by far the most titled and popular club in Israel, was founded in 1906 and its name means "Who is like thee among the gods", a true manifesto of the greatness that has also demonstrated in the field, Maccabi Tel Aviv have won more titles than any other Israeli club, winning 22 League Championships. Maccabi Tel Aviv is the only Israeli football team that has never been relegated and one of three Israeli teams ever to make it to the UEFA Champions League group stage.

At the moment no football teams are sponsored by the Italian brand, and this last partnership could represent a great comeback in the football world of the F brand. It would be just a new attempt to challenge with other sportswear brands, after having sponsored in the 2011-2012 season both Blackpool and Notts County, but also West Ham (from 1999 to 2004). In Italy the only team to have been sponsored by FILA was the Fiorentina, from 1997 to 2000.
