From March 8, Formula 1 will land on Netflix, with a docu-series that will cover the most exciting moments of the 2018 world championship, won by Lewis Hamilton. Formula 1: Drive to Survive will consist of 10 episodes and will have a 360-degree view of the world of motors and paddocks, but also of the feelings lived by the drivers and their families on the eve of the races and the pressures they always have to face. The episodes will tell the athletic preparation, the determination but also the sense of precarious balance that you live above 300 km/h. The cameras will also investigate the management aspects of an industry that moves billions of dollars every season.
The docu-series was made by the producers of Amy and Senna, the documentaries dedicated to the life of English singer Amy Winehouse and that of the champion who died in 1994. A unique way to open up to fans for a sport in many ways mysterious, as notes Paul Martin of Box to Box Film
"Formula 1: Drive to Survive" takes viewers into the heart of this world and shows what it means to live, work and compete in the fastest sport in the world
Netflix seems the perfect platform to tell the story, the epic and the clashes of great champions like Hamilton, Vettel, Ricciardo, and Verstappen, but also a targeted commercial choice, as explained by Ian Holmes, director of the media rights of F1
This truly unique series embodies sport and helps us to show and unveil untold stories inside and outside the track. Collaborating with Netflix to create an original series puts us at the forefront of becoming a multimedia and entertainment brand to attract new fans.
