Five football matches to watch this weekend
Three top derbies and two big matches: you are really spoiled for choice
March 1st, 2019
There is a sort of astral conjunction this weekend: five amazing clashes all concentrated in two days, in which we will really struggle to get away from the sofa. To give you an idea of the richness of the weekend schedule, think that we were forced to exclude from the advices list other big matches like Red Star-Partizan, Borussia Monchengladbach-Bayern Munich, Palermo-Lecce, Porto-Benfica and St. Etienne-Marseille. That maybe we will watch them anyway.
Tottenham - Arsenal
when: Saturday 2/3 at 1:30pm
where: Wembley/Sky Sport
The match that opens the 29th Premier League matchday is the very heartfelt North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal, staged at Wembley waiting for the new White Hart Lane to be inaugurated. On the one hand the Spurs third in the standings, on the other Gunners at the fourth place, able to reduce the 6 points' gap in two games to rivals and now only 4 lengths apart. For us that we still have in our eyes the amazing 4-2 of the first leg, we can not wait to enjoy the game.
Lazio - AS Roma
when: Saturday 2/3 at 8:30pm
where: Stadio Olimpico/DAZN
Separated by six points, even if the biancocelesti have played one less game, Lazio and AS Roma face off at the Olimpico in Saturday night's match. It's a clash that means a lot in terms of fourth place, the seasonal goal of both teams, that just from the derby could find the right motivations for this season rush. As usual, we would not be surprised if will began to fly the cards, as in every other hot derby. Prediction? 1X2.
Real Madrid - Barcellona
when: Saturday 2/3 at 8:45pm
where: Santiago Bernabeu/DAZN
The replay of the match already played on Wednesday and won by Barcelona is scheduled, always at the Bernabeu, Saturday night: how will Real Madrid present itself three days after the 3-0 just suffered? What game to expect from Barcelona after the umpteenth win at the rivals' home? Interested spectator of the match: Atletico Madrid second in the standings that could take advantage of a Barça misstep.
Everton - Liverpool
when: Sunday 3/3 at 5:15pm
where: Goodison Park/Sky Sport
Another top derby scheduled for the weekend is that of Merseyside between Everton and Liverpool: the Reds play for the title; the Blues, on the other hand, which do not have particular seasonal goals because of their ranking, just to ruin the plans of Salah & his teammates. And maybe even to avenge the defeat of the first leg, arrived only in the extra time thanks to Origi and Pickford's mistake.
Napoli - Juventus
when: Sunday 3/3 at 8:30pm
where: San Paolo Stadium/Sky Sport
What could have been a decisive game for the Scudetto race has become only a challenge for the pride, much more felt by the parts of Naples than by those of Turin. Juventus is ahead of 13 points on the team of Ancelotti and even in case of defeat would remain firmly at the top of Serie A. And then what is the main motivation to take the field? Surely that of maintaining the season unbeaten streak in the the league, with or without CR7, which has undergone some tests for a little injury suffered last weekend.
