The elegant beauty of Milan's suburban football pitches
Calcetto Eleganza's photographic project for the launch of a new cap

Despite the rules that move Calcetto Eleganza has always been to interpret football "Not for sports but for fashion", for the launch of the new cap, which will be held on March 8 at Wok Store, the Milanese collective has done much more, telling about an uncontaminated, genuine and provincial football.
The project, born in Milan in 2014, has tried to bring together in a single photographic project shoot by Giuseppe Romano a sporting history common to many, made of remote fields in the suburbs, frozen in winter and hot in summer, as well as the bare tribunes, which test every weekend the loyalty of historical fans. Fans, managers and mythological figures, often in the background, like those warehouse workers/factotum that unite the minor categories and the fields of all Italy. These figures, in many cases surrounded by a mystical-legendary aura, lead the tour of Calcetto Eleganza in the heads of five historical Milanese amateur teams: GSD La Spezia Calcio, AC GARIBALDINA 1932, U.S. Visconti Calcio, A.S.D. Alcione, A.S Barona. The photographic sets are also the headquarters of the companies, full of pennants and trophies from the questionable value, but also the dressing rooms in which hot water in many cases is optional and in which the dashboard reveal proofs of tactics.
From Famagosta to Baggio, up to Bovisa and Barona, Calcetto Eleganza is no coincidence that it reaches the boundaries of Milan, trying to understand the extent to which the short circuit between football, origins, culture, and territory arrives. In addition to the only apparently frivolous approach of the collective, which reduces football to pure aesthetic vision, the project aims to overcome a mainstream definition of the city. To complete the folkloristic vision there is also a tour in the historic restaurants and bars of Milan, such as Trattoria dal bolognese, Cucchi bakery and La Coloniale, places where fashion does not reign but warmth and ease, a necessary attribute of the elegance.
