UPDATE OF 26.10.2020
The Brazilian national team has officially included the new logo on the jerseys. Confederação had already announced changes to its logo in April 2019, which it will now use for the next qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying matches.
Yesterday the Confederação Brasileira de Futebol - the head of the Brazilian National team - unveiled the new kits for the upcoming Copa América along with a new crest that from 2020 will be adopted on the jerseys of Brazil. The Brazilian national team had already announced the changes to their logo in April 2019, and with the presentation of this inserted it is now based on the same model but with added details. Brazil will use the new logo for the next qualifying matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The new graphic identity has not changed any of the main key elements of the crest: the cross, the shield and the color palette have remained the same. The font is changed with which CBF is written, softer and more harmoniously designed by the Dalton Maag agency. In the economy of the crest, the stripes are bolder and cut the outer edge of the shield for a more bold and less institutional effect than the previous crest.
The updating of the Seleçao crest is part of a larger trend of "graphic transition" that clubs and nationals are experiencing, moving towards lighter, simpler and more striking crest more like brand logos than old-fashioned badges.
The new logo will be fully adopted by the Brazilian National teams in 2020, the 2019 Copa America's kits still feature the old crest.
