The new Brazil jersey in the streets of São Paulo
Futebol and urban culture in the editorial shot by Nike with creative studio VariosCorre
April 25th, 2019
Recently Nike has presented the next jersey that the Brazilian national team will wear during the 2019 Copa America, which will be held next summer in Brasil. The kit made in honour of the Centenary of competition that the Verdeoro organized (and won too), has been immortalized in a beautiful editorial made by Nike inside Capão Redondo, district of the city of São Paulo.
For this photographic project, Nike has collaborated with VariosCorre, the platform of young Brazilian creatives which also includes the photographer Amanda Adász.
The shots reveal all the energy of the Brazilian districts, with the brick red houses that contrast with the pure white of the shirt. A tribute that was also made to the unconventional choice of the Seleção to adopt the white jersey, that has never been used since the 1950's Maracanazo, instead of the historic green and gold jersey. Futebol mixes with a street taste, confirming how football, especially in Brazil, is a symbol of a culture that spreads and finds its maximum power right along with the ways. In the game of contrasts, colours, and themes, even styling plays a key role, technology and technical fabrics are in fact combined with tailored-cut dresses such as jackets, trench coats and pin-striped trousers.
