Nike, Inter and Pirelli present the Racing Collection
Celebrating the iconic Pirelli's logo
October 4th, 2019
Nike, Inter and Pirelli have officially released The Racing Collection, a mini capsule that celebrates the long partnership of the Milan club with the sponsor that since 1995 has been present on the Nerazzurri kits. T
he Pirelli logo has become one of the most iconic sponsors of football thanks to its timeless design. The dilated "P", which covers the other letters "as a roof", was born in 1908 in New York; it's not clear who design it first, but the wavy shape of the letter "P" was already a characteristic trait of the signature of Giovanni Battista Pirelli, moreover the graphic extension of the loop of the "P" alluded to the rubber's elasticity. In the following years the logo was subjected to various restyling up to the shape we know today.
The details are inspired by the motorsport world sector in which Pirelli has been a leader for years, such as the print on the sleeve of the yellow t-shirt that recalls the flags of the circuits or the design of the 'jumpsuit' that is inspired by the suits worn by the pilots during the races . The cuts and style are instead exquisitely street: the Pirelli logo is used as a Supreme boxlogo in the Pirelli-branded hoodie and tee and a hard NRG Jacket featuring a minimal Inter Milan club crest, Nike Futura logo and Italian flag to pay homage to motorsport uniforms.
