Jay Z reportedly had some influence in Colin Kaepernick's NFL workout

According to Ian Repoport - NFL.com journalist - Jay Z would have had some influence in the league's decision to organize a "private workout" with Colin Kaepernick, the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. Kap is on free transfer since 2016, since  he had begun to kneel during the ritual execution of the American anthem in the pre-game. Repoport also added that the audition does not represent for Kap a plea deal in his mobbing case against the NFL for that last March led to compensation of about 10 million dollars. The audition that will take place this Saturday in Atlanta could be an opportunity to relaunch the sports career of Kap, who defined himself in "shape and ready for this for 3 years", after during recent years he began famous especially for his social commitment and in relation to his partnership agreement with Nike for the campaign "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything".

The most interesting aspect of the background provided by Repoport, however, is in the alleged involvement of Jay Z. In summer, in fact, Shawn Carter and his Roc Nations (the entertainment agency that also heads the Roc Nations Sport) have become the consultants from all NFL entertainment, including Super Bowl. The decision to take on an advisory and managerial role within the NFL had caused great controversy within the African American community, which had accused Jay Z of being a sell-out towards the NFL - a league that he himself had repeatedly disputed and that is made up mostly of white presidents and shoppers and black players. The same Jay Z had said he had made the decision only after a private interview, an interview which - according to Kap's partner - would not have gone too well. The entry of Jay Z into the management of the NFL, however, had been greeted by Jigga himself as the time of the action, which followed that of Kneeling: "I believe we are forgetting that Colin's initial intention was to put the attention on social injustice. If we look at it from this perspective, this operation must be seen as a success; this is the next step ... ".

Jay Z had therefore wanted to emphasize the social potential of his role, and this mediation in the Kap affair could represent the beginning of a long and complicated process in bringing the NFL closer to players, particularly African-Americans, as well as peace among the billionaire Jay Z and the entire black American community.
