Umbro launch Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen 'Stealth Collection'

Two total black capsules with clear references to the history of the two cities

Umbro launch Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen 'Stealth Collection' Two total black capsules with clear references to the history of the two cities

Digging into the history of the two clubs, of which Umbro has been kit supplier since 2018, Umbro unveiled two A/W capsules for Werder Bremen and Schalke 04. The 'Stealth Collection' uses the same concept - black garments with tone-on-tone inserts that create a look inspired by stealth technology used, for example, to make military aircraft less visible - but differ in the details that are based on traditional elements of the two cities. Both capsules have the same basic characteristics, both in terms of the range of the collection and the absence of club colours, with Umbro and club logos barely visible. The Werder's Stealth Collection stands out for the key of Bremen - a symbol of the city that refers to the coat of arms of the archdiocese of Bremen - that appears on the t-shirt and on the jacket, while the Schalke 04 features the claim 'Auf Kohle Gebohren' ('born from coal'), in reference to the mining city of Gelsenkirchen, home of the Schalke.

The Stealth Collection includes jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts and sweatpants, embellished with Umbro details. The sweatpants and the sweatshirt are the only garments of the capsule that abandon the black-on-black look, presenting a side band characterized by the iconic white double diamond that repeats throughout the length of the leg and sleeve. Both collections - launched in collaboration with Outfitter, a German store specializing in the sale of sports goods - differ in two other elements, once again connected to the roots of the two cities: the Schalke collection, in some garments, features the two crossed hammers that celebrate the club's deep bond with the Ruhrgebiet coal mining history, while the Werder collection was launched through the claim 'wagen un winnen' (literally 'dare and win'), in reference to a motto created by Otto Gildemeister, mayor of Bremen in the mid-19th century.

The two capsules are available on the Umbro website.
