The 'MVP' playing cards inspired by the greatest basketball players
Davide Barco's project is sustainable through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter

The Italian illustrator Davide Barco created 'Most Valuable Playing Cards', an art project financed on crowdfunding and launched through the Kickstarter platform. M.V.P.c. will be a poker deck of 55 cards with 18 subjects (16 figures + 2 jokers) redesigned and inspired by Most Valuable Players who ever played the Game between 1980 to 2019 but also featuring the geometric patterns that you can find in the classic poker cards. Each seed is dedicated to a decade of players, starting from the ‘80s for the male athletes, and every five years circa starting from 1997 for the female athletes.
The selections criteria of the MVPs in the main deck is very simple: who has won most individual trophies in their regular season career got her/his place within the main deck. There's also a Bench deck: an additional side deck with all the MVPs excluded from the main deck (16 figures + 4 jokers + some special cards). This means you can switch figures between The Main deck and The Bench deck and so decide who’s gonna be in your deck. The amount needed to start the project is €12.000, and in case of overfunding Barco will invest the exceeding money in increasing the quality of the decks.
