'Nefta Football Club' has been nominated to the 2020 Oscars
The Yves Piat's movie will compete among the 'Best Live Action Short Film' award
January 14th, 2020
There is a film that talks about football, even if in a very light way, among the just announced 2020 Oscars nominations: it's 'Nefta Football Club', the short movie by French director Yves Piat released in 2018 and set in Tunisia, and precisely in Nefta, the city-oasis located close to the Sahara desert. The short comedy film tells the story of a very particular discovery by two young Tunisian brothers, Abdallah and Mohammed, but it's the passion for football that moves the plot and justifies the ending, surprisingly. 'Nefta Football Club', after being highly appreciated in the United States (it won the Aspen Shortfest, the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival) will compete in the 'Best Live Action Short Film' category together with 'Brotherhood', 'The Neighbor's Window', 'Saria' and 'A Sister'. The ceremony of the 92nd edition of the Academy Awards will be on February 9th.
