A few hours ago Nike unveiled the new Premier League match ball, which will take the place of the yellow Nike Total 90 presented in October. The new model is called 'Tunnel Vision' Merlin and will be used for the final phase of the British top flight, making its debut during the London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham scheduled on 22 February.
In addition to the Nike Aerowtrac technology, for which the ball has been designed to provide a precise and stable flight helping to guarantee a constant flow of air through the ball, regardless of the speed with which it is moving, a detail that stands out immediately is that relating to the Premier League trophy, which reminds each team of the goal of the season. Produced for 37% from synthetic leather, and then from rubber (33%), polyester (20%) and cotton (10%), the new ball features an irregular graphic with orange circles on a white base and dark graphics, and underlines the ability of players to focus on a task while ignoring everything else. The zigzag end of the swoosh is also very particular.
