PUMA and Rhude redesign the iconic "King" boots
Third act of one of the most hype collaborations of recent years
September 3rd, 2020
The PUMA King worn by Maradona and Pelé are considered "the shoes of the Gods" and there is no need to add why. Launched for the first time in 1968, the most iconic signatures of all time are about to experience a new phase of an already legendary existence. PUMA and R H U D E have dropped "PUMA x Rhude Cell King", a new sneaker model that reinterprets the design of the '68 Kings. A job, that between the German brand and the Angeleno brand, which confirms the direction but above all the quality of the partnership.
After taking inspiration from motorsport and having fused that style with a minimal design, R H U D E and PUMA use football as the ideal terrain to bring back one of the most transversal performance shoes ever. The idea of Rhuigi Villaseñor, founder of R H U D E, to elevate minimalism and streetwear to create something unique has once again given an exciting result.
The leather upper features stitching clearly inspired by the original PUMA King, as well as the tongue with the RHUDE logo is very reminiscent of Maradona's face embossed on the 1982 Kings. A molded strip in leather and suede, with a vintage-looking midsole but with Cell technology, they complete a silhouette that is already a must.
