Fans recreate the atmosphere of big matches on Spotify
A survey by the Swedish company reveals that 80% of supporters are missing the stadium atmosphere
September 11th, 2020
Yesterday the Ligue 1 restarted, as this weekend it will be the turn of Premier League and Liga, while the Bundesliga and Serie A will resume playing next weekend. Football is gradually returning on game, but unfortunately, fans will not be able to be present in the grounds for the health reasons related to coronavirus - only in France, in fact,'s there a partial reopening of some sectors of the stadium. It's therefore normal that the sound landscape of the systems has totally changed, and to underline this, there is also a new trend of listening on Spotify.
<span '="">A study by the Swedish company showed that 80% of the fans interviewed admitted the lack of the roar of the stadium after a goal, and to overcome this absence, turned to the music streaming platform. A third of the fans are trying to recreate the sound environment of the stadium in their own home. Or anyway, on an electronic device. In fact, according to data collected by Spotify 34% of fans interviewed said they had heard either a stadium song (11%), or the jingle celebration of a goal (9%), or began to follow and listen to sports podcasts (12%). In all this, 38% confirmed that they will continue to listen to podcasts even when the stadiums reopen; in general, Spotify recorded nearly 20'000 podcasts including the term 'football'.
Spotify statistics involved Italy and ten other countries between Europe, Africa and the Middle East during July. The world of cheering feels - of course - very distant from its ordinary context, but music in this sense can be a solution to mitigate the detachment from your club. It will also be for this reason that on the Swedish platform there was a boom in listening to songs such as You’ll never walk alone (Liverpool’s anthem) and Hala Madrid ... y nada mas (Real Madrid’s anthem), the latter with a 64% in account reproductions in Spain.
