Palace knows how to make a sports collab

Item and collaboration for every taste, from the football to golf

Palace knows how to make a sports collab Item and collaboration for every taste, from the football to golf

The history of Palace Skateboards has always been connected to the sports world, a bond that goes far beyond the collaborations that have projected the British brand at the top of the fashion industry. Although since its foundation the brand's DNA has undeniably been characterized by a skate soul, it's interesting to note how all the partnerships that the brand founded by Lev Tanju has carried on, none of them has to do with skateboarding.

Palace collaborations have always moved on two very close tracks: on the one hand, these joint ventures are born from the passion of the brand's creatives - and team members - for a particular sport, such as football, often a source of inspiration in designing collections, or tennis, the latter useful to reaffirm the Britishness of the brand in a symbolic frame such as that of Wimbledon. On the other hand, all these partnerships bear a strategic component, the intention, through remarkable collaborations, to redefine the brand reputation and to broaden the brand's range of action and popularity, an objective achieved only partially in the capsule created with adidas for Juventus. In its expansion plan, Palace has found in adidas a fundamental partner, which has ensured a privileged entry into the world of sport.

Most of all, the collaborations with the world of sport reflect Palace's attempt to enter the mainstream while trying to maintain a balance between its past and present streetwear and the desire to escape from its reference sector without affecting the brand identity.

Here are the best moments in the successful relationships between Palace and the world of sports.

Palace x Rapha (2020

These days the Giro d'Italia is underway all along the country, and on the Italian roads, the EF Pro Cycling team will wear the outfits of Palace x Rapha, technical sponsor of the cycling team. The Salopette Pro Team Bib Shorts II and the Pro Team Aero Jersey define the collaboration between the two brands, complete with a cap with visor, bags and socks in a limited edition; In particular, Palace's design stands out on the team's bikes - a Cannondale Aero SystemSix, a SuperSix EVO and a SuperSliceil. Along with Rapha, Palace has also created an off-bike collection with some T-shirts, sweatshirts and even a Palace Goretex jacket.

adidas x Juventus x Palace (2019)

On 28 October 2019 Juventus played at home against Genoa, and although the match was a good sporting spectacle - Ronaldo settled it on penalty in the 96th minute - all the attention had been captured by the Bianconeri jersey. Palace has, in fact, created a special Juve Home Kit in collaboration with adidas only for that match, colouring logo, sponsor and technical partner yellow neon and blurring the lines of the shirt; the white of the other stripes had been replaced by a matte grey. The shirt was a unique success and in Juventus' online stores sold out within hours, but it was not the only item of the collaboration between Juve and Palace. There were also tracksuits, a scarf (Forza Palace) and trousers.

adidas x Palace x Wimbledon (2018)

If at Wimbledon, in 2018, you were a professional tennis player and you were dressed adidas, then you were also Palace. For that edition of the British Grand Slam, Palace collaborated again with adidas to create a set of garments to wear during grass matches. A total white lookbook - in perfect tennis style - in which the Palace inscription appears under the adidas logo. On that occasion, Federer and Garbine Muguruza won Wimbledon: the tennis player was signed adidas, and had already posed for the Palace shoot in the presentation of the tournament.

Palace x adidas Golf (2018)

Sergio García Fernández, Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann are three champions of golf, and as the leaders of the sport were chosen by Palace as the testimonial of the 'Golf' line, created with adidas. The items presented were both the classic tennis accessories - cap, visor, gloves, towels - and also jackets but especially sneakers. A model of adidas Pro Boost 2015 total white with the inscription PALACE printed in gold foil.

'Tango' (2017)

In adidas Originals 'Ultimo' collection of 2017, Palace has put its signature on a historic item: the 'Tango' ball from the German brand used for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina. On the iconic (and timeless) pattern of that balloon, the black triangles have the inscription Palace with its font brand, and the sphere was produced two versions, one white and one phosphorescent yellow, both immediately sold out. A unique and even more resounding exit of Palace considering that it was one of the first appearances of the English brand in the sport. An item to play on the street day and night.

Bonus: SS17-SS20(2017-2020)

One of Palace's most successful (and most original) releases in recent years has been the SS17, with some items clearly inspired by sports models. In particular, the London brand had created two long-sleeved t-shirts with stripes inspired by the colours of Juventus and Inter. In addition to being both quite as wide as a classic football shirt of the nineties, the black and white pairing clearly recall a historical model of Italian football. In general, that collection had several sports items, including a suit very similar to the suits of Formula 1 drivers.
